MANAGE WIKE? IT IS TOO LATE TO REGRET — AROKODARE TELLS APC GOVERNORS

Hon. Yemi Arokodare(Former Member, House of Representatives)Ekiti State

The APC Governors’ recent rejection of Nyesom Wike’s so-called “Rainbow Coalition” is nothing but a classic case of a political arrangement that has gone sour.

For months, they appeared comfortable with Wike’s political alignment and the role he was playing around the APC government. Now that disagreements have emerged, the governors are suddenly drawing the line.

My message to them is simple: manage Wike if you can, but it is already too late to regret.

This development should also remind Nigerians why former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has consistently warned against the politics of convenience and desperate alliances.
Atiku understood the danger of allowing personal political interests to overshadow the larger national interest.

Today, the APC governors are simply coming into terms with the hard decisions Atiku often take in defence of democracy and for the benefit of Nigeria and Nigerians.

Atiku is better prepared, more consistent and more committed to building a Nigeria where institutions and national interest come before political bargaining.

The current disagreement within the APC family is a lesson: political alliances built around convenience will eventually collapse when interests change.

The APC governors should therefore stop pretending that the problem is Wike alone. They must also take responsibility for the political choices that brought them to this point.

In my opinion, the political elite have always understood Atiku. Just that those who benefit from the errors and distortions in our system would always try to use every incentive to present the man differently to ordinary Nigerians. They understand what Atiku truly represents. It is beyond the political narratives!
