ATIKU 2027: OUR CONVICTION IS FIRM, OUR MISSION IS VICTORY

Aare Amerijoye DOT.B

No government can campaign away the questions waiting at the kitchen table. No procession of political heavyweights can answer them on behalf of the people. When Nigerians enter the polling booth in 2027, they will carry their own verdict on the condition of their lives—and their own hopes for something better.

We are taking Atiku Abubakar to that contest with conviction.

We believe in his capacity to lead. We believe his experience can serve Nigeria at this demanding moment. We believe his presidency offers a credible opportunity to connect economic policy with public wellbeing and restore purpose to government.

Our support is deliberate. Our argument is clear. Our mission is victory.

We stand with Atiku because Nigeria deserves leadership equal to the weight of its challenges.

The presidency demands more than commanding a microphone. It requires the judgement to make difficult decisions, the knowledge to understand their consequences and the ability to organise a government capable of delivering results.

Atiku brings experience as a former Vice President to that responsibility. He understands national administration from within. We regard that experience as an asset Nigeria can put to work.

A country confronting difficult economic and security questions needs a president who can establish priorities, select competent people and coordinate action across institutions. We are supporting Atiku because we believe he has the foundation to undertake that assignment.

Our case reaches beyond his years in office. It concerns what those years can contribute to the future: informed judgement, administrative understanding and the capacity to bring people together around a national programme.

We want that experience working for Nigerians.

We want government decisions that recognise what families, workers and businesses must contend with. We want public policy that supports production and rewards enterprise. We want leadership that understands that an economy exists to sustain people and expand their opportunities.

The purpose of economic reform must become visible in the lives of citizens.

A government cannot indefinitely ask for patience without accounting for progress. It must explain what its decisions cost, who benefits and how the promised improvements will reach the public.

We are advancing Atiku’s candidacy on that ground.

His proposed petroleum intervention gives substance to our argument. He has outlined a production subsidy for petroleum products refined in Nigeria and sold domestically, with a spending ceiling, legislative approval and independent audits. The proposal’s stated objectives include supporting domestic refining and improving affordability for consumers.

We support the principle of linking public intervention to domestic production and measurable public benefit. Nigeria’s resources should help strengthen its productive capacity. Public expenditure should carry clear obligations to the citizens who fund it.

We will explain this proposal confidently, including the questions of financing, implementation and consumer benefit. Our advocacy gains strength when Nigerians understand the practical choices before them.

We have no reason to fear a serious policy debate. We welcome it.

Let the competing programmes be placed before the country. Let their costs be explained. Let their promises face scrutiny. We believe Atiku can make a compelling case for an economic direction that gives proper weight to affordability, production and accountability.

That confidence also rests on a substantial electoral foundation.

INEC’s published 2023 presidential result recorded 6,984,520 votes for Atiku Abubakar, against Bola Tinubu’s 8,794,726. Those figures establish the previous result; they do not determine the next election. But they make one fact unmistakable: millions of Nigerians have already chosen Atiku to lead them.

Almost seven million votes cannot be dismissed by a sneer, a slogan or a declaration that the next election is already settled.

We recognise the strength of that foundation. We also recognise the work required to build upon it.

We must retain the confidence of those who supported us and earn the trust of those who made other choices. Every voter deserves respect. Every question deserves an honest answer. Every additional vote must be won through persuasion.

Our movement must offer Nigerians a reason to join us.

That reason is a future in which government takes responsibility for the consequences of its decisions; where public institutions perform their duties; where enterprise has room to grow; and where national leadership serves the whole country.

We are carrying that vision with Atiku.

Our campaign must embody the inclusion we expect from his presidency. Nigeria belongs to all its citizens. We will seek support across differences and make our case through the shared concerns that bind the country together.

Security matters to every community. Opportunity matters to every household. Accountable government matters wherever public money is spent.

These responsibilities give our movement a national purpose.

We will defend Atiku vigorously. We will answer misrepresentation with facts. We will explain his proposals in language Nigerians can understand. And we will remain clear about the seriousness of the office we seek.

Our conviction does not require us to pretend that he has never faced criticism. His age, previous campaigns, policy positions and record will all be discussed. We will meet those questions directly.

A presidential mandate must be earned. We are prepared to make that case.

Previous defeats do not give anyone ownership of his political future. Nigerians will make a fresh decision in 2027. We intend to approach that decision with a persuasive programme, disciplined advocacy and confidence in our candidate.

Atiku’s political future will be decided by the electorate. We will work to earn its verdict.

The incumbent must account for his stewardship. Occupying the villa creates an obligation to answer for performance. It does not confer a permanent claim to power.

We will insist that the contest addresses the condition of the country. We will ask how official claims of progress translate into household wellbeing, business opportunity, public safety and functioning services.

Those are legitimate questions. They belong at the centre of a presidential election.

We will also place our alternative before Nigerians. Our case for Atiku must explain how experience, policy and competent administration can produce better government.

That is where our confidence belongs: in a vision citizens can examine and a leader we believe can carry it forward.

We want an Atiku presidency that accepts clear obligations, appoints capable people and measures itself by delivery. We want public trust strengthened through openness and accountability.

These expectations are part of our support. They give our advocacy substance and our mission purpose.

Nigeria’s promise remains immense. Its people possess talent, enterprise and determination. We believe Atiku can help create the conditions in which those strengths flourish.

That is why we stand with him.

That is why we will make his case with energy.

That is why we will carry our conviction into the contest without surrendering to the mythology of an unbeatable incumbent.

Atiku can win in 2027. We are committed to earning that victory.

We will speak with confidence, support our claims with evidence and keep the country’s future at the centre of our message.

Our conviction is firm: Nigeria deserves purposeful leadership.

Our candidate is Atiku Abubakar.

Our mission is to win the people’s trust—and, through that trust, the presidency.
